Welcome
Essential Training Associates was founded in 2016 by Moira Hood and Rachel Eastop, counselling colleagues for many years. We developed the Children Matter course in collaboration with Brenda Meldrum (Playing Matters) and Open College Network London. Following the success of this course, we added a module to enhance the training.
Further expansion of the course, now known as The Essential Toolkit, has enabled us to continue to meet the BACP Competency Framework for Children and Young People (4-18years).
We are passionate about training counsellors to work therapeutically with children and young people. After more than 30 years of experience in this field, we know how essential it is to have specialist training.
Our counselling courses provide an accessible insight into the theory and practice of counselling children and young people.
These training days cover theory, skills and practice and are geared towards qualified counsellors/psychotherapists looking to enhance their practice, specialising in settings such as schools, agencies and private work.
Our courses are designed to provide counsellors with the essential competencies needed to support children and young people's emotional well-being.
Our courses aim to give participants a grounding in child and adolescent development and attachment theory and provide them with the skills and competencies to work safely with children and young people.
At Essential Training Associates, we provide you with the necessary skills to support this growth and development.
Essential Toolkit
The Essential Toolkit is a suite of training underpinned by BACP children and young people’s competencies (4-18 years). Fifteen courses cover essential skills for qualified counsellors of adults who are ready to expand their practice or become a school counsellor.
Sign up for the courses that are most applicable to you.
Our courses will:
-
Help you to develop a strong foundation of knowledge and competency that will enhance your counselling practice with children and young people
-
Allow you to study from home – all course materials will be uploaded to Google Classroom
-
Challenge your perceptions of children and young people's counselling, giving you ample opportunities to discuss with other participants.
We hope that all children and young people grow to achieve their potential and positively impact their own lives and the lives of others.
To do this, we recognise that it is essential for practitioners to have the knowledge and skills to support children and young people to develop resilience and emotional literacy that is essential to their development.
We believe this will reduce the number of youngsters struggling with their life experiences.
We look forward to meeting you
