Service Description

This training explores child development as a sequence of changes physically, emotionally socially and cognitively from birth to adulthood. We will consider how children progress from dependency on their parents and carers to increasing independence. And how nature and nurture influence development, as well as environmental and educational factors. We will understand how problems in child development can arise due to: prenatal and perinatal circumstances, the presence of a specific diagnosis or medical factors, and/or the lack of opportunity or exposure to helpful stimuli. And discuss how counselling forms part of a multi-agency intervention programme around the child at their point of need.
