Service Description
This training will discuss the importance of forging links in schools, with parents/carers, other service providers and community agencies to assist the health and the social choices of children and young people. Explain how collaborating successfully in a multi-agency setting requires being clear about the school counselling role and an awareness of the roles of other professionals. Examine the BACP Core Competencies for working with children and young people (4-18 years) and how they apply to counselling in different settings. Identify the key legislation for working therapeutically with children and young people. Explain relevant elements of Child Protection in the UK and Social Policy. Explain how to implement safe clinical practice when counselling children and young people.
